WELCOME TO
GLADSTONE GYMNASTICS

The Gladstone Gymnastics Club prides itself in offering programs for males and females, for young and old (from 6 months of age to our oldest member at 84 years of age), for those who are experienced at gymnastics and want to have a competitive approach to their gymnastics or for those who are at the start of their gymnastics journey and may want to learn the sport recreationally. The diversity of program choice is our Club’s greatest strength.

We are proud to offer a variety of gymnastic sport and challenging physical education options.

KinderGym

Kindergym is a developmental program for children under 5 years of age and their caregiver. Parents, children, and coaches join together to create a fun, safe and structured environment where children can learn the basics of gymnastics and love of moving their body. Children learn fundamental life and physical movement skills, including: motor skills, strength and coordination, cognitive development, social development and confidence.

Recreational

Our recreational program is designed for children of all ages and abilities. It is a developmental program which begins with fundamental gymnastic skills, and progresses to more specific and difficult gymnastic elements.

Competitive

We offer competitive gymnastics programs for WAG (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics), MAG (Men’s Artistic Gymnastics), and Acrobatic Gymnastics. Each of these performance teams will learn important skills to be successful in gymnastics and to guide them through life.

Social

Social Gymnastics build on our recreational program with a focus on increasing specific gymnastic skills, and providing social and competitive opportunities for lifelong participation.

Who we are

Anna Turetschek established the Gladstone Gymnastics Club in 1977. The club had a humble beginning in a small shed with just 12 female gymnasts and very little equipment. Over the years the club has continued to grow, and we are now located in one of Queensland’s premier sporting facilities, offering gymnastics education for the whole region. Our success is a testament to the dedication and support of our members, families, and the wider Gladstone community.

Our Philosophy

Gladstone Gymnastics has historically been known as the place to go if you aspire to strong competitive outcomes; now we are also focused on empowering all members and gymnasts of all ability levels to safely progress on a clear pathway at their own pace using our unique Steps curriculum, an innovative and world class gymnastic venue, and passionate, professionally driven coaches.

Our goal is to be the premier provider of gymnastic sport and movement education in Central Queensland. We are in the business of lifelong education, personal and physical development through person centred movement programs. Our values are Respect, Honesty, Teamwork and Passion.

I recommend all parents put their children into gymnastics before starting school. The KinderGym program at Gladstone Gymnastics Club stimulates brain development that will make starting school easier for your child. The long term benefits continue as the gymnastics training journey increases.Time management, organisation and self discipline are bonus skills, but the best awareness is your child learning, physically and mentally, to try again, and face defeat in order to achieve success. Gladstone Gymnastics Club teaches our children all these things.

Anita

Our family has been with the Gladstone Gymnastics Club for the past 7 years. We love our gymnastics family and the boys have made lifelong friendships with their fellow teammates and coaches.Gymnastics has not only formed our children into amazing all round athletes, but it has taught them commitment, concentration, and discipline. Learning how to use these skills at a young age, they have experienced that hard work pays off, and this not only helps with gymnastics but with all other aspects of life. We would highly recommend the Gladstone Gymnastics Club to all our friends and family, it's 100% a lifestyle choice not just a sport.

Regen and Nicole Dunn

My 6 year old granddaughter has been involved in Gymnastics for 5.5 years and her brother, aged 3 years, and has been involved for 2 years. Each enjoys and finds success, self-motivation, developing new skills and respect for others in their weekly sessions.Gymnastics provides the essential development of every child’s gross and fine motor skills through age appropriate sessions. Each child learns through play, laughter, stimulating environments and being actively encouraged to try challenging, yet safe, accessible activities. Gymnastics relies on analytical thinking, combined with creativity and therefore, enables both sides of the brain to be engaged. Through Gymnastics, this essential thinking pattern is enhanced from a young age and underpins life-long learning, through active participation with dedicated coaches.Skills such as listening, following directions, balance, body position in space, strength, self -worth and self-discipline, underpin formal education in all subject areas and life in general. As an overall sport, I chose to enrol my grandchildren in Gymnastics. As an educator, I understand and promote the need for children to be involved in an active sport promoting cognitive and physical development, as well as encouragement and supportive skill development. A further consideration for me was that Gymnastics is held indoors, negating the sun damage caused by a sport where training and competition can subject children to long exposure to the sun.
